Thanks to Shutterfly, I was inspired to write a post about my favorite Christmas cards. While a traditional Christmas card is always nice to get, especially if there is a letter inside (even it's a form letter...that's okay....I forgive you!), my favorite kind of Christmas cards are photo cards. While it's easy to stay connected online in today's day and age, it's fun to get a photo card with recent family photos from either a photo session or family event during the year. We've been having fun putting all of them on our fridge. We are running out of magnets though! (A good problem to have)
I'm planning to create this year's Christmas photo cards through Shutterfly. They have SO many options and honestly, sometimes too many! :) (Again, a good problem to have.)
Here's what the subject of our cards will be this year...can you guess where this is?
With Shutterfly, not only can you do photo cards, but you can do photo books (we've done this for grandparents in the past) and desk calendars (I've never done, but they look like a neat idea).
Let me know what you create, or better yet...send it to my mailbox! I love mail :)

CSN Stores Review Preview
I was recently introduced to CSN Stores and was surprised at the large amount of offerings on their websites and related affiliates. They sell everything from bar stools to remote control and electronic toys, to furniture, to patio and garden items, on their site and their 200 related stores!
Now that garage sale season is nearing its end here in Minnesota, I'll be looking out for good retail deals on toys for our little guy. I was wondering recently if he would enjoy playing with remote control and electronic toys now that he's a little older.
I'm off to check out CSN Stores to see what kinds of remote control toys I think our little man would enjoy.

$10 Caribou Coffee Gift Card for Just $5!
Wahoo! I'm super excited about this deal!! Today, Thursday, August 26th, only - you can get a $10 Caribou Coffee gift card for only $5! I do love me some coffee. Just go to Plum District (it's a Groupon-like site) ~ the process is really easy and your gift card will be mailed within 2 weeks.
Mmmm....coffee!
PaperbackSwap.com
Since I know that if you're reading this blog, you must like to read, so I wanted to share one of my favorite websites with you!
Do you have any used books lying around? Ones you've already enjoyed, but you're never going to read again? I did, and I finally found a great way to share them with other people! It's called PaperbackSwap.com and it's really fun.
Let me tell you how it works -- because it is so easy! I listed 10 books on the site and I got 2 free book credits to get started. So you can order 2 books right away - free of charge -- and have them mailed directly to you! No strings attached. No gimmicks. No spam mail. Nothing. You just have to love reading books.
When another member selects one of my books that I have listed, I mail it to them. Yes, I pay for the postage. But then I get another book credit and I can select a book that I want. So another Club Member returns the favor and mails me one of his or her books free of charge. For every book I mail out, I get another book in return - a true shared system! As long as the book you are requesting is "worth" the postage cost that you spend to send out one of your books, it's a win-win!
When someone requests one of your books, all you have to do is print two pieces of regular paper from your printer which includes the mailing address and the recommended postage. Apply the postage, and drop it in the mail. I am familiar with printing postage at home, so it's really easy to do.
I will admit that it's not ideal if you are only requesting new releases, as those have LONG waiting lists and you'll likely be waiting years to get it. But if you're looking for an older book or something not as mainstream, this may just work well for you!
I strongly encourage you to check this out. If you do sign up, please use the following link:
If you use the link above to join, I'll get a free book when you post your first ten books (and you'll still get free books for posting them!)
Let me know if you try it out!

Good Earth Review & Giveaway!
I was recently provided the opportunity to try one of the new Good Earth dry dinner kits, thanks to a generous offer from Good Earth & MyBlogSpark. Not only did they provide a Good Earth Mediterranean Chicken dry dinner kit, but they also sent two sets of bamboo flatware, two bamboo dishes, a bamboo utility board and a 100% recyclable grocery tote!
We received the package awhile ago, but we finally had a chance to try it tonight. It was very simple to do and both my hubby and I participated in the preparation of the dinner. My hubby prepared the chicken and got it cooking, and then I took over with the sauce and making the pasta. It was very easy to do and probably took about 20 minutes total (if that).
While our 2-year-old didn't care too much for the dish, we thought it was pretty good. The chicken turned out really tender and moist. It was a good meal, but we thought it could use a bit more seasoning. Maybe some salt & pepper or a bit of garlic would do this dish good. It also has lots of healthy things like whole grain pasta and whole wheat flour, which admittedly aren't things we usually eat, so that may be part of it too. It was a well-rounded dish that paired nicely with a salad and bread.
(Here's a picture of the dinner cooking! Can you see the steam? Yummy.)
The good news is that Good Earth & MyBlogSpark also gave me another Good Earth gift pack to give away to my loyal readers! :) This gift pack (pictured below) includes the dinner kit, flatware, dishes, cutting board & reusable bag All you have to do is e-mail me at funfindsforyou@gmail.com, or comment on this post with your name, e-mail address and what your favorite kind of pasta dish is! Comments will be taken until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 10 when a random winner will be chosen. One entry per person, please! :)
Good luck!

Coupons.com
If you haven't checked out coupons.com yet, I highly suggest you do so! You can print many money-saving coupons that can be used at a host of retailers! You can usually print two coupons per computer; just hit your back button after you've printed your first copy, hit reload/resubmit, and a second copy should print!
They add new coupons all the time, and they usually "reset" on the first day of the month. This means they will either remove the coupon entirely, or reset so you can print again even if you already have.
Some of my favorite coupons that are up right now are:
Hefty One-Zip Bags - Save $1.00 on 2
Nexcare Bandages - Save $1.00 on 1 (makes free bandages at Target & elsewhere!)
Old El Paso - Save 60¢ on 2 (makes for cheap taco seasoning packets!)
Keebler Wheatable Crackers - Save $1.50 on 1
Right Guard Deodorant - Save $3.00 on 2
Stove Top Stuffing - Save $1.00 on 2
Roman Meal Bread - Save $1.00 on 1 (let me know what store you find this in)
Sometimes it can be hard to find a specific coupon - what I have found works best is if you click the "category" on the left side of the page, then the coupons will be sorted by type of product.

Some Hot Coupons!
There have been several great coupons released lately. Here are my highlights.
Happy Shopping!
- Save $1.50 off any Keebler Wheatable Crackers - These crackers often go on sale for $2.00 or less, making a very inexpensive snack! My son loves the Honey Wheat variety! This one didn't print correctly for me, but I have been having a few printer issues. You can also print a $1.00 off coupon here with just a quick registration.
- Save 70¢ off any Pillsbury Crescent Rolls - Choose the smallest size that retails close to $1.00, or get a better value for the regular size can. I love making Veggie Pizza and using the Crescent Roll dough for a crust. Yum. (You can only print one coupon per computer.)
- Save $5.00 off two dinner entrees at Olive Garden. Yum! Okay, I'll admit it...it's one of my favorite restaurants. I can never get enough of their soup & salad.
- Save $1.00 off Kellogg's Special K Crackers. You can print this over at Snackpicks.com while you're getting your Wheatables coupon. Combine two of these coupons with a Target coupon for $1 off two boxes, and you'll score two boxes of yummy, healthy crackers for just 49¢ each. (Current price at Target is $1.99 before coupons)
Happy Shopping!

Trial or Travel Sized Items
Did you know that you can often obtain trial size items for FREE or better?! There are several products that have trial-sized (or travel-sized) versions that you can you use coupons on! You will need to read the size restrictions on the coupons, but many times there will not be any size restrictions meaning they are fair-game to use on travel size items!! Wahoo!
I find that Target has the biggest travel size section, Walgreens has NONE (sometimes the trial size products are just intermingled with the regular products), and CVS and Cub Foods have some. Your mileage may vary (YMMV), so take a look at your favorite store (or several stores) the next time you shop.
Some examples:

Your mileage may vary (YMMV), so take a look at your favorite store (or several stores) the next time you shop.
Some examples:
- Renu Contact Lens Solution - I have got many, many bottles of Renu contact solution for free (or very inexpensively) with coupons that they quite frequently put out. In fact, you can get a $2.00 coupon right here! Target seems to be jacking the price of the trial-size version, but even with the price increase, you can get a very good deal on a nice sized bottle for your purse, airline carry-on, or work desk drawer.
- Deodorant - I have a nice stockpile of travel sized deodorant that I have gotten for free after coupons. In fact, in just this past week's paper, you can get a $1.00 off any Dove deodorant or body mist. I know that they have a couple of Dove varieties of Target, so clip this coupon and bring the next time you go for FREE deodorant. There is also a couple of Degree coupons that may score you free items as well! The small sizes are handy to bring on a weekend getaway or a couple in your airline bag.
- Band-Aids - I have been able to get a purse-sized box of various sized bandaids. With a toddler in tow, you never know when there will be an "owiee" to take care of. Also nice to throw in your glove box in the car.
- Toilet Paper - yes, it's true! A year or so back, they had this small roll of toilet paper in the trial size section! I guess you could bring it camping? It's still sitting in my cabinet. Hrrmmm....
- Feminine Products - I am pretty sure that I don't need to buy any feminine products for a good couple of years. Kotex, for example, is very generous with their $1 off any product. Use these for free pantyliners and the like.
- Baby Wipes - I think I have gotten some free packages of baby wipes in the travel section after coupnons. Again, handy for the diaper bag or your purse on those quick-trips around the neighborhood on your errands.
- Baby Shampoo - Get a travel-size bottle of Johnson & Johnson's baby shampoo for free when combining with a coupon! Make sure it does not exclude trial sizes.
- Laundry Detergent - Tide often releases $1 off any Tide coupons. Well, I will be the first to admit that I don't often buy a regular bottle of Tide because I usually buy the inexpensive stuff like Purex, but you can get the single-use packets of Tide in the travel section and using a $1 off coupon is perfectly valid! I save these for my 2-year-old's daycare clothing; I don't know HOW on earth he gets SO dirty in just one day!
Please note, that sometimes the coupon will "beep" at the register saying "Item not found" or "Invalid Item". You should be able to prove to the cashier or customer service lead that you are buying the product listed on the coupon and there are so size restrictions on the coupon. This has happened to me before and they always end up taking the coupon. You are not "cheating" or doing anything wrong; you are buying a product that is listed on the coupon and utilizing the coupon that the manufacturer promotes.
Let me know what free items you score in the travel/trial section using coupons!

Did you buy a lawnmower from 1994 to April 2010?
I came across an advertisement in the USA Weekend section of our Sunday newspaper regarding a class-action lawsuit. This lawsuit involves gas engine powered lawnmowers with 30 horsepower or more. The lawsuit claims that the manufacturer's misrepresented and overstated the horsepower of their lawnmowers. This is a big date range! We definitely purchased a lawnmower in this time period when we purchased our home. I will definitely be looking into the model number of our machine. If your lawnmower is on the list (it appears that several are included), you may be eligible for a $35 cash settlement for a walk-behind mower, or $75 for a riding lawnmower.
It's worth taking a look at!

Holiday Station Stores
I am so pleased to bring you the first good deal alert of this blog! Right now, you can score a FREE bag of TGIF Snacks at Holiday Station Stores. These snacks are currently on sale for $1.50 and there is a $1.50/1 coupon here! I recently tried the potato skin variety and they were very tasty.
Did you know that Holiday Station Stores take manufacturer's coupons? They sure do! I just re-verified this today at the Plymouth, MN location. They often will have sales on candy and snacks (and sometimes grocery items)...watch your coupons and pare with a sale for a good deal.
Another thing you should know about is the monthly Holiday coupon sponsored by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Star Tribune. These coupons have been out for several months now, and I have been able to score some great freebies! This month, you can get a FREE Mega-Grab bag of Doritos Chips with any purchase. Any purchase could be gas, a soda, newspaper, or a 15¢ sucker! The coupons change at the end of the month, so this particular coupon is good until April 30th. I usually print out a few, put in my purse, and I can get a free snack every time I stop by. Previous month deals include free coffee, free breakfast sandwich, free bags of candy, and more! The great thing is that these coupons seem to work franchise-wide. My mom uses these coupons in a small town in northern Minnesota, and while she says they look at them a little funny, when they punch the code in their computer, it works perfectly!
Holiday also has free coffee coupons on their own website that come out frequently as well. Use it for a regular coffee or a yummy cappucino. This coupon expires on April 25th, but check the link afterwards as it seems to be a recurring coupon.
Another thing I just found tonight, is a 5 cents off per gallon coupon on their website. You may as well save on gas when you're getting a free snack! You can use all of the coupons together!
Also, they take competitor's gas coupons as well! This is very good to know, since gas seems to be on the rise once again.
Finally, be on the lookout for tearpads of manufacturer's coupons on the refrigerator doors of your neighborhood Holiday. I have found some great coupons when browsing the stores! I recently found some Coffeemate creamer coupons at Holiday for 55 cents off. I used them at Rainbow Foods during their double-coupon promotion to score free coffee creamer. Yes! But, please, if you are going to take the tearpad coupons, do NOT take the whole thing. Take a few or what you will use, and leave the rest for others to benefit from.
Let me know if you try shopping at Holiday. Think outside just the typical grocery store and Sunday newspaper coupons to score some great deals!

Welcome!
I am starting this blog for you in mind! I was introduced to the deal-blogging world about a year ago, and my life has been changed ever since! While there are many, many blogs already out there, and although I don't want to re-create the wheel, my hopes in creating this site is to bring you only the best-of-the-best online and retail deals. I am also planning to feature interesting articles and series that will improve your life. I am just an ordinary, average, down-to-earth, relatable, busy, working mom who shares a home with a wonderful husband and a darling little boy in Minnesota. You will learn more about me as time goes on, but I just wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself.
You may wonder about the name of this blog - Fun Finds For You! As I said previously, this blog is for YOU! I want to focus on content that will help you...whether it be lifestyle articles, shopping deals, coupons, reality checks, or a host of other items. I came up with this name many years ago as I was re-naming my eBay business. While I am not as active with eBay as I once was, you can find all kinds of items that I am selling from time-to-time.
I hope you'll join me in this adventure I am about to experience!
Once again...
