Heads Up: Nivea Body Wash

There is reportedly going to be a $4.00/1 coupon for Nivea body wash in this weekend's Sunday paper coupons.  Use this coupon to score free or close-to-free body wash!  I've used this brand before and really like it.

Free English Muffin Melt at Subway on Friday 4/30

Stop by a participating Subway restaurant from 7-11am this Friday, April 30th, to get a free English Muffin Melt.  While all Minnesota locations are supposed to be participating, I'd suggest calling your local restaurant to see if they are participating.  Yummy!

Trial or Travel Sized Items

Did you know that you can often obtain trial size items for FREE or better?!  There are several products that have trial-sized (or travel-sized) versions that you can you use coupons on!  You will need to read the size restrictions on the coupons, but many times there will not be any size restrictions meaning they are fair-game to use on travel size items!!  Wahoo!

I find that Target has the biggest travel size section, Walgreens has NONE (sometimes the trial size products are just intermingled with the regular products), and CVS and Cub Foods have some.  Your mileage may vary (YMMV), so take a look at your favorite store (or several stores) the next time you shop.

Some examples:
  • Renu Contact Lens Solution - I have got many, many bottles of Renu contact solution for free (or very inexpensively) with coupons that they quite frequently put out.  In fact, you can get a $2.00 coupon right here!  Target seems to be jacking the price of the trial-size version, but even with the price increase, you can get a very good deal on a nice sized bottle for your purse, airline carry-on, or work desk drawer.
  • Deodorant - I have a nice stockpile of travel sized deodorant that I have gotten for free after coupons.  In fact, in just this past week's paper, you can get a $1.00 off any Dove deodorant or body mist.  I know that they have a couple of Dove varieties of Target, so clip this coupon and bring the next time you go for FREE deodorant.  There is also a couple of Degree coupons that may score you free items as well! The small sizes are handy to bring on a weekend getaway or a couple in your airline bag.
  • Band-Aids - I have been able to get a purse-sized box of various sized bandaids.  With a toddler in tow, you never know when there will be an "owiee" to take care of.  Also nice to throw in your glove box in the car.
  • Toilet Paper - yes, it's true!  A year or so back, they had this small roll of toilet paper in the trial size section!  I guess you could bring it camping?  It's still sitting in my cabinet.  Hrrmmm....
  • Feminine Products - I am pretty sure that I don't need to buy any feminine products for a good couple of years. Kotex, for example, is very generous with their $1 off any product.  Use these for free pantyliners and the like.
  • Baby Wipes - I think I have gotten some free packages of baby wipes in the travel section after coupnons.  Again, handy for the diaper bag or your purse on those quick-trips around the neighborhood on your errands.
  • Baby Shampoo - Get a travel-size bottle of Johnson & Johnson's baby shampoo for free when combining with a coupon!  Make sure it does not exclude trial sizes.
  • Laundry Detergent - Tide often releases $1 off any Tide coupons.  Well, I will be the first to admit that I don't often buy a regular bottle of Tide because I usually buy the inexpensive stuff like Purex, but you can get the single-use packets of Tide in the travel section and using a $1 off coupon is perfectly valid!  I save these for my 2-year-old's daycare clothing; I don't know HOW on earth he gets SO dirty in just one day!
Please note, that sometimes the coupon will "beep" at the register saying "Item not found" or "Invalid Item".  You should be able to prove to the cashier or customer service lead that you are buying the product listed on the coupon and there are so size restrictions on the coupon.  This has happened to me before and they always end up taking the coupon.  You are not "cheating" or doing anything wrong; you are buying a product that is listed on the coupon and utilizing the coupon that the manufacturer promotes.

Let me know what free items you score in the travel/trial section using coupons!

Did you buy a lawnmower from 1994 to April 2010?

I came across an advertisement in the USA Weekend section of our Sunday newspaper regarding a class-action lawsuit.  This lawsuit involves gas engine powered lawnmowers with 30 horsepower or more.  The lawsuit claims that the manufacturer's misrepresented and overstated the horsepower of their lawnmowers.  This is a big date range!  We definitely purchased a lawnmower in this time period when we purchased our home.  I will definitely be looking into the model number of our machine.  If your lawnmower is on the list (it appears that several are included), you may be eligible for a $35 cash settlement for a walk-behind mower, or $75 for a riding lawnmower.

It's worth taking a look at!

Holiday Station Stores

I am so pleased to bring you the first good deal alert of this blog!  Right now, you can score a FREE bag of TGIF Snacks at Holiday Station Stores.  These snacks are currently on sale for $1.50 and there is a $1.50/1 coupon here!  I recently tried the potato skin variety and they were very tasty.

Did you know that Holiday Station Stores take manufacturer's coupons?  They sure do!  I just re-verified this today at the Plymouth, MN location.  They often will have sales on candy and snacks (and sometimes grocery items)...watch your coupons and pare with a sale for a good deal.

Another thing you should know about is the monthly Holiday coupon sponsored by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Star Tribune.  These coupons have been out for several months now, and I have been able to score some great freebies!  This month, you can get a FREE Mega-Grab bag of Doritos Chips with any purchase.  Any purchase could be gas, a soda, newspaper, or a 15¢ sucker!  The coupons change at the end of the month, so this particular coupon is good until April 30th.  I usually print out a few, put in my purse, and I can get a free snack every time I stop by.  Previous month deals include free coffee, free breakfast sandwich, free bags of candy, and more!  The great thing is that these coupons seem to work franchise-wide.  My mom uses these coupons in a small town in northern Minnesota, and while she says they look at them a little funny, when they punch the code in their computer, it works perfectly!

Holiday also has free coffee coupons on their own website that come out frequently as well.  Use it for a regular coffee or a yummy cappucino.  This coupon expires on April 25th, but check the link afterwards as it seems to be a recurring coupon.

Another thing I just found tonight, is a 5 cents off per gallon coupon on their website.  You may as well save on gas when you're getting a free snack!  You can use all of the coupons together!

Also, they take competitor's gas coupons as well!  This is very good to know, since gas seems to be on the rise once again.

Finally, be on the lookout for tearpads of manufacturer's coupons on the refrigerator doors of your neighborhood Holiday.  I have found some great coupons when browsing the stores!  I recently found some Coffeemate creamer coupons at Holiday for 55 cents off.  I used them at Rainbow Foods during their double-coupon promotion to score free coffee creamer.  Yes!  But, please, if you are going to take the tearpad coupons, do NOT take the whole thing.  Take a few or what you will use, and leave the rest for others to benefit from.

Let me know if you try shopping at Holiday.  Think outside just the typical grocery store and Sunday newspaper coupons to score some great deals!

Welcome!

I am starting this blog for you in mind!  I was introduced to the deal-blogging world about a year ago, and my life has been changed ever since!  While there are many, many blogs already out there, and although I don't want to re-create the wheel, my hopes in creating this site is to bring you only the best-of-the-best online and retail deals.  I am also planning to feature interesting articles and series that will improve your life.  I am just an ordinary, average, down-to-earth, relatable, busy, working mom who shares a home with a wonderful husband and a darling little boy in Minnesota.  You will learn more about me as time goes on, but I just wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself.

You may wonder about the name of this blog - Fun Finds For You!  As I said previously, this blog is for YOU!  I want to focus on content that will help you...whether it be lifestyle articles, shopping deals, coupons, reality checks, or a host of other items.  I came up with this name many years ago as I was re-naming my eBay business.  While I am not as active with eBay as I once was, you can find all kinds of items that I am selling from time-to-time.

I hope you'll join me in this adventure I am about to experience!

Once again...
